The massive range (10 squares vs rcb 7 vs karil 8) is really nice to have and the thing is pretty damn accurate (100 vs rcb 90 and karils 84) with decent damage splats (78 range str vs karils 55 and rcb addy bolts 100/mith 82). MSB with rune arrows are better than RCB but slightly worse than Karil’s, but rune arrows work with Ava’s. Wait for blowpipe tbh. If you just want to do tasks then msb (i) and rune arrows if possible. Karil's xBow, the 4 attack speed would be huge over the RCBs 6 when kiting, killing the prayer drain birds and tagging healers. Greater mage and range defense. Karils is more useful in many circumstances. I'd say go with Karils. You rarely range a monster who uses melee up close where he can hurt you, if defense matters. But your defence level when rolling a magic attack is 30% defence level and 70% magic level. 70% of defense against Magic is based on the Magic level, while 30% is based on the Defence level. Elite void bottoms sadly do the same job better. It sort of lacks a purpose once you have access to better gear. 5. Blessed dhide is better as the improved magic defence is irrelevant, the ranged defence difference is marginal, the increased melee defence of d'hide helps against snakelings, and the prayer bonus helps not use as much supplies. Also with karils you use 1 bolt per attack which can be costly in the long run, while with msb (e), you don't use arrows nearly as often. Although, you do need a small collection of rune arrows first in order to use it, which I happen to have from slayer, though you might not ...Even with amethyst arrows, pretty sure Karil's is better than MSB (I), only by about 5%, but still better. This isn't factoring in the spec, but the extra hit would have to add 5% total DPS just to break even. Considering the time investment for amethyst arrows, I'd rather save those for amethyst darts and use Karil's.

The Karil's crossbow, heck almost the entire set besides the leather top has no uses outside of fashionscape & being flip merched, not even a niche use like it's brother set Verac's for some bosses as it is vastly inferior to the level 50 Magic Shortbow (I) in almost every single aspect but that miniscule accuracy bonus..
